I am taller than he.(我比他高)。

一、as…as…

(一)as…as…

as…as…

My parcel is as heavy as yours.9Yu

She is as much interested in music as ever.9Yu

The economic development in our country is as stable recently as formerly.9Yu

(二)not as (or so)…as…

跟as…as…句型相反的结构not as (or so)…as…

My uncle is not as (or so) tall as your father.9Yu

People are not so honest as they once were.9Yu新文站范文网

(三)not so much …as…

not so much …as…这个结构表示的基本意义和not as (or so)…as…

He was not so much angry as disappointed.9Yu

The oceans do not so much divide the world as unite it.9Yu新文站范文网

(四)not so much as…

not so much as… 请注意与not so much …as…

He didn’t so much as ask me to set down.9Yu新文站范文网

He cannot so much as spell a word.9Yu

He hadn’t so much as his fare home.9Yu

二、比较级+ than to do…

由比较级与than to do sth.

You ought to know better than to go swimming on such a cold day.9Yu新文站范文网

I have more sense than to tell him about our plan.9Yu

I had a better command of English than to make such foolish mistakes.9Yu

三、more…than…

(一)more A than B句型9Yu新文站范文网

more A than B通常用于同一个人或者事物在两个不同性质或者特征上面的比较。

He is more good than bad.9Yu

He is less good than bad.9Yu

He is more a writer than a teacher.9Yu

(二)more than…

在英语中,如果more than…

I have known him for more than twenty years.9Yu新文站范文网

I have more than ten dollars in my pocket.9Yu

He more than smiled, but laughed.9Yu

She was more than kind to us.9Yu新文站范文网

He was more than upset by the accident.9Yu

4.more than… can…

That is more than I can understand.9Yu

The cold was more than the children could bear.9Yu

(三)no more …than…

no more …than…句型在意义上与not any more than…. 跟no more …than…

His grammar is no better than mine.9Yu

He is no more a writer than a painter.9Yu

He is no less a writer than a painter.9Yu

I am no more a poet than he is a scholar.9Yu

Are you interested in seeing the beautiful fall foliage of New England but tired of traffic jams and overbooked hotels? Then this year forget the crowds in New England and see the beautiful colors of autumn in the Catskills.9Yu新文站范文网

These rugged mountains in New York State, just 90 miles northwest of New York City, are famous for the legendary tales of Rip Van Winkle, and more recently for the summer hotels that sprang up in the region during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Families trying to escape the heat of New York City found the Catskills to be the perfect place to stay for a month or so each summer. By the late 1950s there were over 500 resorts and hotels offering nighttime entertainment as well as all kinds of outdoor activities. Famous comedians like Jackie Gleason, Joan Rivers, and Sid Caesar all got their start touring the hotel clubs here. Since the introduction of air-conditioning and cheaper air travel, however, families have stopped coming to the Catskills in such large numbers, choosing instead more distant locations at different times of the year. Many of the Catskills hotels closed in the 1970s, but some remain and have expanded and changed their facilities to meet the needs of today’s visitors.9Yu新文站范文网

Currently, there are many activities available to the traveler besides witnessing the changing colors of the leaves. There is an all-organic sheep farm where visitors can see how a traditional sheep farm operates. There are also hundreds of miles of scenic drives in the area. Route 42, for instance, is an excellent site for spotting bald eagles. For more information on vacations in the Catskills, call the Office of Public Information.9Yu新文站范文网

Of all the areas of learning the most important is the development of attitudes. Emotional reactions as well as logical thought processes affect the behavior of most people. “The burnt child fears the fire” is one instance; another is the rise of despots like Hitler. Both examples also point up the fact that attitudes stem from experience. In one case the experience was direct and impressive; in the other it was indirect and cumulative. The Nazis were indoctrinated largely by the speeches they heard and the books they read. The classroom teacher in the elementary school is in a strategic position to influence attitudes. This is true partly because children acquire attitudes from those adults whose word they respect. Another reason it is true is that pupils often delve somewhat deeply into a subject in school that has only been touched upon at home or has possibly never occurred to them before. To a child who had previously acquired little knowledge of Mexico, his teacher’s method of handling such a unit would greatly affect his attitude toward Mexicans. The media through which the teacher can develop wholesome attitudes are innumerable. Social studies (with special reference to races, creeds and nationalities), science matters of health and safety, the very atmosphere of the classroom… these are a few of the fertile fields for the inculcation of proper emotional reactions. However, when children come to school with undesirable attitudes, it is unwise for the teacher to attempt to change their feelings by cajoling or scolding them. She can achieve the proper effect by helping them obtain constructive experiences. To illustrate, first grade pupils afraid of policemen will probably alter their attitudes after a classroom chat with the neighborhood officer in which he explains how he protects them. In the same way, a class of older children can develop attitudes through discussion, research, outside reading and all-day trips. Finally, a teacher must constantly evaluate her own attitudes, because her influence can be deleterious if she has personal prejudices. This is especially true in respect to controversial issues and questions on which children should be encouraged to reach their own decisions as a result of objective analysis of all the facts.9Yu新文站范文网
